Disability Awareness: A Unique Perspective<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This presentation focuses on the difficulties of trying to cope with people who are disabled. The first portion of the speech deals with what it has been like living with a brother who has Down Syndrome. This is a clear example of someone who is permanently disabled. The terms \u2018social\u2019 and \u2018medical\u2019 definition of a disability will be drawn into perspective; and the term \u2018temporarily abled\u2019 will be defined. The second portion of the speech will focus on the ongoing difficulties of dealing with a dad who suffered from a severe stroke. A heavy emphasis will be placed on what it looks like for someone who was a temporarily abled individual to now becoming disabled. The final portion of the speech will be focused on my thoughts, and the audience\u2019s mindset. This final segment will be a call to action, and a re-assessment of one\u2019s thoughts. In order to make change for those who are disabled, we who are temporarily abled, must put ourselves in their shoes and understand the need for social, economic, and spiritual assistance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
