Statistical Analysis of Skateboarding

United States Census data concerning the demographics of skateboarders will be statistically analyzed in order to draw conclusions about the skateboarding community. This data will be compared to data obtained from surveying local skateboarders. The goal of this analysis is to determine if there is a difference between local & national data concerning skateboarding.

Fractals: the Geometry of Chaos

Fractals are self-similar objects with fractional dimension . These objects can be constructed using dynamical systems, and expressed geometrically. The dynamical systems used in these constructions have chaotic properties. These properties are density, transitivity, and sensitivity to initial conditions. The most primitive fractal set is the cantor middle thirds set. Fractal geometry is distinct from Euclidean geometry and can be used to better model natural phenomenon.

Homework Across the Ages

This project will consist of comparing and contrasting four philosophies of homework across three authorization levels: Elementary, Middle school, and High school. The research includes observations and theories pertaining to the developmental stages of students and their mental processes. We will each do our own research in our specific authorization levels and compare our results. Each member will present their final data in a cooperative presentation.
