Southern Oregon Humane Society

The purpose of this project is to examine the Form 990 of The Southern Oregon Humane Society as a nonprofit organization and to discuss the programs and financial health of this nonprofit organization. The Humane Society is a worldwide organization that focuses on the rescue and prevention of animal cruelty. This nonprofit organization not only focuses on the rescue of animal cruelty it also helps to provide sustainable programs to both animals and people. A form 990 is a report that nonprofit organizations complete for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to allow those organizations to be exempt from taxes. The form 990 requires a nonprofit organization to provide their mission, finances, and the public charity work that is accomplished. Looking briefly over the financial information of The Southern Oregon Humane Society of both the revenues and expenditures have increased from the prior year. However, depending on the organization some requirements within the form 990 will not be applicable.

The Effect of Weather on Wave Height in Hawaii

In our project we are studying the effect of the weather in Hawai’i & whether or not it affects the wave height in the ocean. Our hypothesis is that weather plays a huge part in this society. With the seasonal changes that Hawai’i sees it becomes a huge problem & people are really able to see the difference of the waves based upon the four seasons. We also decided to look at the four main islands of Hawai’i, such as Kaua’i, O’ahu, Mau’i, & the Big Island. Once we narrowed it down on how each of the islands can have their own difference in wave heights based upon the weather that that islands see. We also want to know how the two main seasons, summer & winter, effects the wave heights because of the different climate each island has.

The Effect of Exercise on Student Stress

Much research has shown that exercise relieves stress. Although this is true, this study adds an element that could be explored further. This study addresses some of the other studies that have been done on this topic before exploring the surveys performed in this study. In order to find out if exercise is beneficial in relieving the stress of college students, students were asked to fill out a stress survey as well as information regarding how often they exercise. Once the data is collected, the results should reveal that exercise does in fact help with stress in college students.
