Taxation of College Students

This presentation focuses on the tax credits, deductions, & other various items that apply specifically to college students when filling out their tax forms. The presentation includes explanations of the tax form 1098-T & how scholarships may affect a college students taxes, 

especially if the scholarship covers more than the tuition at your current school. We will also discuss the GI bill & dependency status for those who may still be claimed as dependent on their parent/guardian’s return.

Ninkasi Brewing Company Operations Analysis

Students will demonstrate a thorough analysis of the Ninkasi Brewing Company brewing process. Beginning with raw materials in the malt silos, students will demonstrate knowledge of the brewing process from milling to packaging. The brewing process will then be applied to various operations management techniques including, but not limited to program evaluation & review techniques, critical paths, assembly line design, & statistical quality control in the production process. Ultimately, a suggestion will be provided for optimizing company operations 

processes.

Capsim Simulation – Team Andrews Competition Rounds

This presentation will cover the breadth of the Capsim business simulation program for Andrews Inc. or “Team Andrews” in the BUS 499 course. Over the course of 8 “years” a manufacturing firm will be run by members of the team & closely examined in an analysis showing decisions leading to the current standing of the simulated company. Students will cover decisions made in Research & Development, Marketing, Production, Human Resources, & Total Quality Management sectors of the business over the course of 8 rounds & will provide forecasted results for the remaining rounds.

The use of Cluster Criticism to analyze the song ‘Let it go’ which was written & composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez & her husband Robert Lopez. Sung by Idina Menzel for the Disney Motion Picture, Frozen released in November, 2013. This will be done by identifying key terms within the song, & specific elements woven within or near them, to discover more about the character. This will help reveal the character Queen Elsa’s Terministic Screen, how she views reality, & her inner struggle between being free & concealing her gift & self from the world.

NCU Organizational Audit

NCU’s Communication 341 class has conducted an audit on the university in order to assess the way the members view communication within the organization. The methods for collecting data included two surveys sent out to the campus. Additionally, 15 interviews were conducted with members of the organization. The results show key information about areas of NCU that members feel are excelling in communication, as well as areas in which communication is a struggle. Some of the positive themes found included department cohesion and fulfillment; some areas of concern included trust, employee recognition, and workload.
