The Reality of Fantasy Football

We decided to write out our procedure on how we were going to conduct our experiment on comparing the scores from the random National Football League teams to the Fantasy Football score from the four impact players of each of the ten random NFL teams. The next step was to proceed with collecting our data from finding the information from www.NFL.com. Lastly, we gathered up the necessary information to send to our professor and begin to paste our data and information to our poster board to present it on ACE Day to see if our scores correlated or not.

The Effect of Exercise on Student Stress

Much research has shown that exercise relieves stress. Although this is true, this study adds an element that could be explored further. This study addresses some of the other studies that have been done on this topic before exploring the surveys performed in this study. In order to find out if exercise is beneficial in relieving the stress of college students, students were asked to fill out a stress survey as well as information regarding how often they exercise. Once the data is collected, the results should reveal that exercise does in fact help with stress in college students.

The Happiest Place on Earth, Statistically

As it has been advertised, Disneyland is the Happiest Place on Earth but is it the Happiest Place on Earth, Statistically? Discussed will be the attendance rate of the Disneyland Parks and Resorts. It’ll be shown that the prices of the parks have fluctuated and with that the attendance alters as well. Due to Disney being a world-wide brand name it’s able to attract more and more customers on little effort a year. Talked about will be the effect that different ways of price alterations has on the attendance of each of the Disney Parks.

Diet Quality and Academic Performance

This Data Analysis takes a look at the eating habits of kids and their academic performance. Through many studies, it has been found that good nutrition correlates with better grades, test scores, attention, and attendance. Nutrient intakes and different eating habits are compared to academic performance in order to see the relationship between them.

Heat vs. Clippers Statistical Breakdown

While looking at two of the top NBA teams, Miami Heat & the LA Clippers, we will compare & contrast their numbers are heading into the post season. Some of the top categories are field goal percentage, free throw percentage, & three-point percentage. When the playoffs start they have a series, which includes seven games, another thing to look at would be if the three percentages that are listed above, differ whether they are playing at home or on the road. Also something to look at would be where they are getting most of their shots whether they are getting the ball inside, or successfully shooting the ball from behind the arc. This is key to compare to the field goal percentage to where the majority of their shots are coming from.

The purpose of our survey is to see how college students both with & without visible tattoos or facial piercings perceive people with visible tattoos or facial piercings. Body art is more mainstream, & we would like to see what this new generation of people entering the workforce makes of this. We will survey a total of 52 people. From NCU: 13 with visible tattoos or facial piercings, 13 without. From UO: 13 with visible tattoos or facial piercings, 13 without.

Social Media Use by College Students

Social media has become very popular around the world. Social network sites such as Facebook, Twitter, & Instagram are used very often & have become a big part of people’s lives, especially college student’s lives. This project examines the social networking among college students. The data will be collected through a survey & then analyzed using statistical methods in excel. The results will be compared to other results found online regarding the same topic. This survey will be conducted during spring semester & participants for the survey will be traditional undergrad students from Northwest Christian University.

The majority of the population remembered the degrading feeling of purchasing their first automobile & probably spent hours online looking for a reasonably priced cars that weren’t completely outdated, or test drove a lot of poor quality cars that before finding the one.

Through a brief survey to NCU students who have been through the experience of buying their first car, the results will reveal what brand, color, & year of car are most popular. The ideal results will highlight the aspects that students think are the most important when deciding what car to buy.

The Use of Minor Versus Major Caliber Pistols During United States Practical shooting Association Competition

In United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) competitions, each competitor has to choose whether to engage a minor or major caliber firearm in the contest. While a minor caliber gun will give the shooter the advantage of superior handling, the USPSA imposes more stringent point penalties for someone using a minor caliber than for someone using major caliber pistol. This paper analyses whether the minor or major caliber user will have the competitive edge by comparing the data collected from four competitors completing multiple standardized USPSA classifiers.

Graduates vs. Job Openings

Understanding the relationship between the job market trends and the majors offered at a school is one way to assess how well a college is meeting the needs of the students. It also provides an opportunity for the college to better design the majors offered around student needs. This study will show if there is a trend between job availability and the number of students graduating with a degree in that field.

Fractals: the Geometry of Chaos

Fractals are self-similar objects with fractional dimension . These objects can be constructed using dynamical systems, and expressed geometrically. The dynamical systems used in these constructions have chaotic properties. These properties are density, transitivity, and sensitivity to initial conditions. The most primitive fractal set is the cantor middle thirds set. Fractal geometry is distinct from Euclidean geometry and can be used to better model natural phenomenon.

History in Mathematics Education

Differentiated instruction is an educational philosophy and the current driving force behind modern education. Differentiated methods take into account the various learning styles and needs of students, by employing various methods of instruction to generate interest, promote learning, and improve assessment of student progress, as opposed to the method of direct instruction, which treats all students as equal. This research presentation attempts to answer the question of whether it is useful and viable to incorporate the history of mathematics in mathematics classrooms and curricula as a method of differentiating mathematics instruction.

The Mathematics of Rock Guitar

Society places math geeks and rock stars in two very different baskets. However, without mathematics there would be no rock n’ roll. In this study the mathematics of the electric guitar were examined by scanning existing knowledge in the field. From Pythagorean fret placement to standing waves, mathematics exists in every element of a guitar from its build design to the sounds it makes. The expressive, emotional phenomenon that is rock music can be conceptualized and understood in grounded mathematics.

Statistics of the San Diego Chargers

For my project for this Statistics class, I am going to evaluate the statistics of the San Diego Chargers NFL Football team over the past five years. All these statistics will be over a one year period but then I will compare the past five seasons to see the difference and the relation between the statistics of game performance and game outcome. I will evaluate the following statistics: win, loss, ties (outcomes of games); total offensive yards; sacks; field goals; touchdowns; time of possession; interceptions; and playoff appearances.

How Much Debt are You in Due to College?

We are going to collect data on the amount of debt that college students have accumulated thus far while in school. In order to be part of our study, the person must be at least a sophomore, Junior, Senior, or graduate student. This will give us a more accurate number since these students have been in college for at least 3 or more years and will be forced to pay this money back very soon. This is a very important topic for most college students, especially in an election year where higher education and the affordability is a big issue amongst the candidates. It will be a situation many of us will be facing as the economy looks to rebound.
